'The Map of Expectations' is the thing I've worked on recently. It's the first piece in which I carried out my ideas of the collage with scraps of printed text. I used scraps from different sources, but mainly these are articles and columns from ladies' magazines (which while creating turned out to be a good choice, taking the title into consideration). I must admit that words became integral part of this piece, but the fact that they are mainly in Polish undoubtedly limits the reception, which I am aware of. To explain shortly, they represent the expectations of society, imposed lifestyles and outlooks. There's one excerpt from the column by Prof. Maria Szyszkowska (famous Polish professor of philosophy) which summarises the content very well: "We are constantly under pressure of the society, but we really have no obligation to submit ourselves to outlooks of the society". You can find another separate quotation from her: "It is said that we can shape our character through intensive work on changing our handwriting style. Therefore, I wish you good luck!". This is then a clear reference to the theme of writing, which still fascinates me so much. Ok, perhaps that's all.
I encourage you to take a look on close-ups to find another interesting details:
